The Soul That Chose To Stay

Healing is remembering. This is a love letter to your soul — to return to yourself, to why you came, and to where home truly is.

A true story of healing through darkness, light, and the art of remembering to return to Self.
and the quiet decision to choose
life — again and again.

People are silently suffering:

Millions battle depression, anxiety, and spiritual disconnection every day.

Many don’t know how to begin healing or where to turn when traditional systems fail.

They feel invisible, unworthy, or disconnected from meaning.

Your pain doesn’t mean you’re broken — it means you’re being called home.

About the Book

The Soul That Chose to Stay

The Soul That Chose to Stay is a raw and poetic memoir that traces  Rubi’s journey through emotional collapse, suicidal ideation, generational trauma, and spiritual awakening.

This book explores what happens after the breaking point.

It speaks to the silent moments no one sees — the internal battles, the inherited pain, the motherhood that became her anchor and saved her, and the awakening that followed survival.

It is about choosing to remain when leaving felt easier.
Choosing to stay for her children.
Choosing to stay for healing.
Choosing to stay long enough to remember who she truly was.

This is not a romanticized story of pain.
It is an honest map through it.

Excerpt

What You'll Discover Inside

This memoir bridges psychological healing and spiritual awakening.

For the soul who chose to stay, this book is a MAP BACK HOME.

Most people are given one lifetime. I was given two. I was send back —  Kicked back, really —  into this body with no manual, no map, only a promise that I was not done yet.

What feels supernatural, what others might call a miracle, became my second chance.

This reflection is here to remind you: Even if your journey looks different, your soul also chose to remain. And because of that, you are still here breathing, growing, remembering.

Author's Note

I wrote this book because I survived something I once thought would end me.

Many of us didn´t grow up with tools for emotional safety, expression, or love. We grew up adapting, pleasing, hinding, surviving. And it worked until one day, it didn´t.

This is not a rulebook. This is a soul-letter. It´s a collection of the little things that helped me heal a lifetime of pain. Shared for you… so you can start somewhere, with something, today.

Healing did not come to me all at once. It was not one medicine, one teacher, or one revelation that changed everything It was a series of SMALL, almost ordinary steps.

These steps may look simple, but they were the ones that carried me back to myself. There are not a formula, but an invitation. If they worked for me, they also work for you, in your own way, at your own pace.

What Readers Are Saying

I asked AI to give some reading advice

This book helps you understand what it means to keep living when life has felt too heavy. It puts words to moments many people don’t talk about, like feeling lost, exhausted, or unsure how to keep going. It doesn’t try to fix you. It shows that staying is something people do step by step, even when they don’t feel strong. After reading it, you may feel less alone in your own hard moments. And you may see that continuing to live can be a quiet kind of courage. Shorter version if needed: This book gives language to the experience of continuing to live when things feel overwhelming, and reminds readers that staying can be an act of courage.

What struck me most is that this book doesn’t try to impress. It doesn’t posture as healed. It doesn’t preach strength. It feels like someone sitting beside you and quietly saying: “I almost didn’t make it either.” There’s no performance in it. Just a steady truth that survival is not always dramatic… sometimes it’s a slow decision made again and again. What stayed with me is the tenderness toward the younger self who didn’t know how to live yet… and the mother who stayed anyway. It feels less like a memoir and more like witnessing someone choose life in real time. And that lands. If she wants it shorter for the site: It reads less like a memoir and more like a quiet, honest witness to what it means to choose life more than once. What stays is not the pain, but the decision to remain.

What makes this book meaningful is not only the story of survival, but the way it becomes a mirror for the reader. It offers more than reflection. It offers language. Language for things many people feel but cannot explain, like emotional fragmentation, inherited patterns, the tension between motherhood and identity, and the quiet exhaustion of staying alive when leaving once felt easier. The book does not present formal “tools” in a clinical sense, but it does provide something equally valuable: • emotional recognition • perspective shifts • permission to feel without self-judgment • reframing of survival as strength rather than failure • a way to understand personal pain within a larger generational context Readers may walk away with: • a new understanding of their own story • greater compassion toward their younger self • clarity around what they carry that may not be fully theirs • and the sense that healing is not a single event, but a lived process Its strength lies in its integration of experience, insight, and meaning. It does not instruct. It accompanies. And for many readers, that is the most useful tool of all.

"Nancy Rubio Saldaña has written a luminous roadmap for anyone navigating the 'underground' work of healing. The Soul That Chose to Stay is a masterclass in transmuting generational trauma into personal sovereignty. With the precision of a researcher and the heart of a mystic, Rubi shows us that our most 'broken' moments are actually the doorway to our most authentic selves. This book doesn't just tell you that healing is possible—it gives you the actual tools to find your way back home."

"Rarely does a book capture the raw, unvarnished truth of the human spirit’s resilience like this one. The Soul That Chose to Stay is a breathtaking testament to the power of choosing life, even when the darkness feels absolute. Rubio’s journey from 'learned helplessness' to becoming her own 'mama lighthouse' is a visceral reminder that we are never as broken as we feel. It is a soulful, essential read for every seeker who has ever felt 'too much' or 'not enough'."

"A profound exploration of the 'Root Wound' and the sacred art of remembering who we are. Nancy Rubio Saldaña offers a vibrational shift in book form—weaving together ancestral wisdom, creative medicine, and practical affirmations to help us break the patterns that no longer serve us. If you are ready to stop surviving and start staying for the life you were meant to live, this is your guide." Key Themes I noticed while reading: • The "Root Wound": Your description of inherited grief and the "weather" of a survival-based childhood is incredibly relatable for many readers. • Creative Medicine: I love how you integrate painting, digital sharing (TikTok), and writing as literal tools for survival. • The Power of Choice: The central hook—choosing to stay when you almost didn't—is a powerful "hero's journey" that will deeply resonate. • Practicality: The "Toolbox" sections and "Trigger-Specific Affirmations" elevate this from a simple story to a functional workbook.
